Diaverum, a leading global renal care service provider, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a significant new contract to supply life-enhancing renal care in North East England.

The tender, which was submitted in December 2021, came through the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,  the largest trust in Tees Valley, North East England, and covers three major boroughs in the area: Stockton, Darlington and Middlesbrough (North Ormesby).

Diaverum is a long-term provider of renal care services in the Tees Valley, having managed the Darlington and Stockton clinics since 2011. With the addition of the Middlesbrough clinic, more than 240 patients in the area will now be cared for by its clinic staff.

The new contract is due to commence on 1 April 2022 for all three clinics. It encompasses the provision of fully managed services, including nursing, consumables, some pharmaceuticals, equipment and facilities. The Middlesbrough and Stockton clinics will undergo renovations, while Darlington will see the construction of an entirely new clinic.

Commenting on the news, Lisa Akeroyd, Managing Director for Diaverum UK, said: “This is fantastic news for Diaverum that further emphasises the growth trajectory we’re on in the UK, despite the pandemic. There were a number of our competitors involved in what was a highly competitive tender. Our bid – combining best-in-class care at the right pricing - was clearly a compelling and winning offer. Many thanks to everyone involved for this tremendous win.”

Hervé Gourgouillon, Regional VP for West Europe, added: “Our partnership with the NHS in the UK is vital for growing the business there. We have been nurturing this relationship carefully, particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is gratifying to see this generate results. We are delighted that we will be continuing to offer life-enhancing renal care to our patients in Stockton and Darlington and welcome our patients in Middlesbrough.”

With this news, Diaverum UK has expanded its presence to 35 clinics across the country, with more than 500 staff caring for over 3,000 patients, further giving the UK a better share of voice in Diaverum’s overall strategy of longstanding commitment to continuous growth and True care.
