After months of meticulous planning and works, we are excited to announce that the new John Sagar Renal Centre, Burnley has opened its doors to welcome its first batch of patients.

The centre is the fourth of its kind to be operated by Diaverum as part of its contract with the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The new clinic delivers a safe, sustainable and comfortable environment that meets patient requirements. The new facility has 5 additional stations, including two segregation rooms that allow us to treat local patients with BBVs, and a large outpatient area. The larger capacity and facilities mean that all local CKD patients can be treated close to home. The new facility also features a wide range of amenities, including upgraded individual television units, free internet service, a seminar room, and plentiful free parking for patients and staff.

Since 2007, we have been providing a service to Burnley patients in a 15 station unit located on the hospital’s grounds. So it is great to provide this modern standalone clinic with more stations and more space. This new clinic enhances the experience for both patients and staff.

The outpatient facility also provides an opportunity for people not yet on dialysis, to familiarise themselves with our state-of-the-art equipment and the care we provide.

Clinic Manager, Catherine Stackhouse, added: “It’s been great to see everything come together and the patients settling in to their new environment.
My team and I are very proud of this new clinic. It is light and fit for purpose. It provides a modern space with improved features for both patients and staff and is right in the heart of the community, easily accessible to all.”

Patients were given an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the new renal centre before the opening day.

The first batch of patients to dialyse on the first day were impressed with the space and state-of-the-art equipment in the new facility.
One of the patients spoke of his experience. “The new clinic is calming, spacious and light. It is good for easy movement. I am impressed with what has been achieved and the first day went very smoothly. Well done to everyone!”
